Launch weekend
After 18 months of getting to know each other, many leaders’ meetings and much legal work the big day finally arrived. Saturday 15th September saw the official launch of Pemberton Free Grace Church. This was the merging of Jireh Baptist Church and Pemberton Evangelical Church.
Many friends from various churches joined with us in celebration. Members of churches in Southport, Preston, Chorley, Aughton Park, Parbold, Ramsbottom, Bury and some even from as far afield as Somerset and Surrey, Cornwall and the Isle of Skye came to thank God for the merging of the two churches. Many of the visitors have known both the merging churches for a long time. The celebrations began with a buffet tea at Jireh Chapel which about 130 people attended. The building was very full! After tea everyone moved down to Rehoboth Chapel (former Pemberton Evangelical Church building) for a service of thanksgiving. Even more people attended this event – possibly 150.
It was encouraging to see so many friends praying for the Lord’s blessing on the new church. We were very thankful to God for so much support as we go forward into the future.
On Sunday we also had two baptisms which truly made a wonderful weekend for us.
