Beliefs & Practices
You may be wondering what Christianity is about or if God and the Lord Jesus Christ have anything to do with your everyday life. Why not come along and find out?
Your questions about Christianity are always welcome and the church members are always happy to talk about their faith in the Lord Jesus. Also our Sunday services include a time when the Bible is explained in easy to understand language and we use a modern version of the Bible which is easy to read.
What we believe can be expressed quite simply:
- In God’s word, the Bible
- In His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ
We know from our own lives that He can:
- Forgive sin
- Change lives
- Give assurance of eternal life.
The key elements
of our beliefs and practices are expressed in the following statements:
Pemberton Free Grace Church is associated to Grace Baptist Assembly and the FIEC and as such adheres to the Grace Baptist Affirmation of Faith of 1966.
We practise baptism of believers by immersion. Baptism has been given to the churches by Christ as a visible sign of the gospel. Baptism is a symbol of union with Christ and entry into His Church but does not impart spiritual life.
The Lord’s Supper
We celebrate the Lord’s Supper regularly as a church and Church Members are expected to participate.
The Lord’s Supper has been given to the church by Christ as a visible sign of the gospel. The Lord’s Supper is a commemoration of Christ’s sacrifice offered once for all and involves no change in the bread and wine. All its blessings are received by faith.
